    1. How to install PCMCIA/IDE( CitiROM card ) driver for Win2K & WinXP manually? - Top

    Download "citirom.zip" from 'www.shining.com", unzip it, you should find the Win2000 driver under "citirom\win2k" folder. The Win2K driver works for both Win2000 and WinXP.
    Go to "control panel", "device manager", "hdd controller", find "pcmcia-atapi" controller folder, and use "property", "driver", "update" to renew the driver. Point to the directory where you just extract.

    2. How to boot from PCMCIA/IDE CD-ROM so as to install new OS? - Top

    Here are the device command lines you would need to boot cd-rom in DOS or Win95/98 command prompt mode:
    First make a bootable floopy diskette by inserting a blank diskette to an existing Win95/98 system and type in the following commands in MS-DOS prompt:
    "format a:\ /s" Windows shall write a small command interpreter onto the diskette and make it bootable.

    Next, use any editor program and:
    Set a:\config.sys as:
    device=a:\pcmide\pcmi80cl.sys /Q0
    device=a:\pcmide\statpcdm.sys /d:mscd000
    Lastdrive=H

    Set a:\autoexec.bat as:
    a:\mscdex /d:mscd000

    Both "pcmi80cl.sys" and "statpcdm.sys" can be downloaded from "www.shining.com", compressed file name is "Citirom.zip" under "pcmide" directory.

    Also, copy the "mscdex.exe" from the existing Windows( under c:\windows\commands ) to A:\ as well.

    After all above job done, insert the diskette into floppy drive with PCMCIA/IDE card+CD-ROM attached, and reboot.
