  • F.A.Q: CitiDISK Jr. Kits (no device bundled)

    CitiDISK Jr. kit integrates Firewire or/and USB2.0/1.1 technology into the enclosure which also holds for one 2.5" hard disk (model 256x) or holds for one 3.5" hard disk (mdoel 353x). This product line does NOT support DV direct recording from camcorder.

    1. No dirve icon shows up in "MyComputer".

    2. Do I need Firewire driver for Windows98SE/ME/Win2K/XP?

    3. Do I need driver for Firewire device in MacOS?


    1. No dirve icon shows up in "MyComputer". - Top

    There are two reasons:
    1. The drive is not partitioned or not formatted.
    If so, start "Disk partition/format" process by by going to "Control Panel", "Administrator tool", "Computer Management"..., "Storage" folder to show current drive status. Select "Action"( on top left corner), "AllTask" to start the process. Or, download and install "Shining Utility Suite v7.7" from "http://www.shining.com", download page.
    2. Win2k/XP need to write "Signature" onto the disk. If so, start "Disk Signature" writing process by going to "Control Panel", "Administrator tool", "Computer Management"..., once you goes here, XP will automatically starts the signature writing process for you. - Updated: December 15, 2003

    2. Do I need Firewire driver for Windows98SE/ME/Win2K/XP? - Top

    NO.
    You don't need any drivers for the above Operating Systems described. However, there may be cases that you need to install latest services packs. - Updated: October 3, 2003

    3. Do I need driver for Firewire device in MacOS? - Top

    NO.
    You don't need the drivers for MacOS 10.x.
    However, it is suggested that you keep the Operating System always updated to latest level. - Updated: December 19, 2004
