Founded in 1992, Shining Technology, Inc., (www.shining.com) is a Cypress, Calif.-basedmanufacturer of cost-effective, high-performance and award-winning specialized storage peripherals and accessories for the professional and prosumer video markets. In their purest form, Shining’s products “let you do more.” From productivity improvement to boosting efficiency in the field, the company’s innovations comprise key elements of the video pro’s “ultimate toolkit” – those handy extras they wish they had on their next shoot. Product Areas

CitiDISK™ -- Palm-Sized DV/HDV/HD Disk Recorders

Shining Technology offers cost-effective and direct recording from a camcorder’s FireWire (iLink) DV streams to the external, award-winning CitiDISK series (supporting DV, HDV and HD formats) without the help from computers. This unique 10.0 oz. solution saves users valuable time by eliminating the need to recapture the video again before editing, as well as provides high-speed FireWire transfer and high-capacity storage (currently up to 120GB).Upon its introduction to the U.S. market in April 2005, CitiDISK for HDV immediately captured the attention of prestigious trade media and industry associations (following the success of the original, award-winning DV version). At NAB 2005, the largest broadcast and video tradeshow in the U.S. , with an estimated attendance of 104,427 (estimated 1,400 exhibitors), CitiDISK for HDV earned the following recognition:

  • Broadcast Engineering Magazine: NAB 2005 “Pick Hit” award winner – one of only 40 product winners out of an estimated 1,400 exhibitors.

  • 4EVER Group: Hand-picked as part of an elite group of only nine product “Innovation Award” winners out of an estimated 1,400 exhibitors at NAB 2005.

Beetle™ – Bridging the Analog & Digital Worlds

New in 2007 is Shining’s Beetle product line, a new series of devices that simplifies analog-to-digital video conversion. Despite the HD revolution, in which the AV/Media/Broadcast industries are spending billions of dollars to usher in the new generation of HD equipment offering startling quality, hundreds of thousands of legacy analog users still exist – and so does their content. As a “missing link” solution, Beetle bridges the analog-digital divide by offering a fast, simple and efficient mechanism for working with content digitally, without sacrificing analog investments (e.g., expensive, professional-quality Betacams™).
